We are Australians, seeing Australia. Aged 53 (Shelley) and 54 (David) we are both retired, and have been "on the road" since Jan 26, 2009. In 2009 we travelled approx 35,000 ks around Australia. We have a Toyota Landcruiser 2004 V8 petrol 4 wheel drive, and a small Jayco poptop caravan. However, we are at the moment, waiting delivery of a new Lotus Caravan. This one is a full van, not a pop top, is 19ft internally, and has a shower, toilet, aircon & washing machine. We did our first big trip in 2008 travelling from Gold Coast (where we live) as far as Cooktown, across to Darwin, Kakadu, Broome, back to Alice Spings, Uluru, The Olgas, Kings Canyon, then back East spending quite a bit of time on the East Coast of Qld, then back home to the Gold Coast. We did approx 24,000 kilometers.

During our second trip, in 2009, we took things slower, only doing 36,000 in 11 months. We chose to spend more time in places. We headed south first, including 3 months in Tasmania, before heading up through the centre of Australia, to the NT across to Western Australia, and down the West Coast (for 5 months). If you want to find out more about these travells, they have been documented here in this journal. You will have to go back to Jan 26th 2009.

This journal is to keep a record of our trips for ourselves (both a written record & photographic record) and for our friends and family that we leave behind.
